The Credit Card Tracker makes sure you always have enough money in your Credit Card Payoff Account to cover your credit card balance(s).
-
The bar underneath the credit card monitors your credit utilization (the percent used of your credit limit). Watching this bar helps you keep your credit utilization below below 30% to maintain your credit score, or below 10% to build your credit score.
-
If your credit utilization bar shows 0%, you might need to manually update your credit limit on the Accounts page.
-
-
Once all of your credit card charges have been assigned, the Difference between the balances of your your credit card(s) and your Credit Card Payoff Account should always be zero.
What if the Difference of the Credit Card Tracker is not zero?
-
Otto is designed to be used with credit cards that can be completely paid off. To give you a fresh start, we recommend that you pay off your credit cards before you get started.
-
If the credit card you are using is carrying a balance, once all of your credit cards are assigned, the Difference represents past credit card charges that you still need to cover.
-
To cover this outstanding balance we recommend doing the following:
-
Determine how much money you wish to put towards this outstanding balance each time you organize your income.
-
BEFORE you organize your income, on the Dashboard, move this amount from your Income Account into your Credit Card Payoff Account.
-
AFTER you organize your income and make any necessary transfers, make a manual payment to your credit card for the entire amount in your Credit Card Payoff Account.
-
This payment will cover your most recent credit card purchases along with the extra money you are putting towards the outstanding balance.
-
-
-
Occasionally Otto will bring in a charge twice. The Credit Card Tracker helps to catch these mistakes. If you have assigned all of your charges and the difference is not zero, but a positive number, look over your assigned charges to see if there are two of the same charges. If this is the case, reverse out one of these and delete it.
